Overview

Gauthier Watches is a vintage watch e-commerce website for Spencer Gauthier in Los Angeles. Kelly Darwin, a long-term client I have worked with for about three to three and a half years, referred the project to me. I built the website in WordPress and Elementor, and a custom plugin that shows Spencer’s Shopify products on it.

The Challenge

Spencer manages his products in Shopify, but they needed to appear on his WordPress website. Each product has a title, description, price, images, and a product URL. Re-entering every product in WordPress would add an extra step each time a product was added or changed.

The goal was to keep Shopify as the place where products are managed, and let WordPress handle how they are displayed. The sync had to work both manually and automatically, and fit into the existing WordPress and Elementor setup.

What I Did

I built the website first, then the integration.

Milestone 1 (14 to 20 days): the website. I designed and developed the pages in WordPress and Elementor, including a help center with a search bar, eight help categories, and expandable FAQ answers for each category, YouTube Shorts on the site, a blog and articles section, and additional pages.

Milestone 2 (4 to 5 days): the Shopify integration. I built a custom plugin with AI assistance. I decided how the integration should work, what product data it needed, and how to store it in WordPress. The AI helped write the code. The plugin works in four steps:

Shopify holds the product information.
The plugin retrieves it through Shopify’s API.
WordPress saves each product in a custom post type.
Elementor’s Loop Grid shows the products on the homepage.

The plugin gives two ways to sync products. An administrator can click a manual sync button to import products right away. If nobody clicks it, the plugin syncs automatically every hour: it authenticates, checks Shopify, and imports new products into WordPress. Products keep the same order as the Shopify collection.

Result

Spencer can add products in Shopify and they come into WordPress without him entering them again. 147 products have come into WordPress through the sync so far, and the integration is still live and syncing.
